The life and love of Care Giving The story of my life as a caregiver for six years, A journey filled with love, laughter, and tears. It all began when my loved one fell ill, Their health deteriorating, causing a chill. I took on the role, without hesitation, A caregiver’s duty, my dedication. Days and nights blended into one, As the task ahead felt never done. I learned to administer medications, To navigate doctors’ consultations. A constant vigil, monitoring their health, Hoping for days of improvement and wealth. I attended appointments, filled with apprehension, Hoping for good news, seeking intervention. Hospitals became a second home, Navigating the halls, feeling alone. But in those moments, I found strength, In the kindness of nurses, going to great lengths. In the support of friends and family near, Helping to alleviate my fear. As days turned to months, then years, I learned to embrace both joys and tears. In the small victories, like a smile or laugh, Finding solace in memories, like a photograph. But it wasn’t always easy, I must admit, There were moments of exhaustion and grit. Sleepless nights, filled with worry and doubt, Wondering if I was doing enough in this bout. But through it all, the love remained, A guiding light, never to be restrained. The bond deepened, through every care, A love so strong, it was hard to bear. And though the journey was a challenge, no doubt, I wouldn’t trade it for anything, without a doubt. For in caregiving, I found purpose and grace, In giving my love, I found my rightful place. So here’s to all the caregivers out there, Whose stories are woven with love and care. May you find strength in each passing day, And know that your efforts don’t go astray.
